Hello everyone,
here is Eva again on behalf of CIMBA, Asolo.
This past week has been quite intensive and I didn't have a chance to write much. The program is as busy as always. We got used again to our English classes and we enjoy them quite a lot. Our instructor creates a fine mix of readings, grammar, writings, discussion and she tops it all with a bit of music ( Black eyed peas rules!!!). Last week for example we read a Smithsonian magazine article "The Smithsonian life list" of 28 places to visit before dying - http://www.smithsonianmag.com/.
Amazon rain forest, Machu Picchu, Grand Canyon, Antarctica, Angkor Wat, etc... Ancient towns, magnificent nature and presence of gods are places which people are naturally drawn to. The article offered a nice escape from finances, marketing and accounting and made me think of another adventurous trip to unknown.
We continue to work on our consulting projects - mine is focused on human resource management and improvement of performance measurements. Interesting topic since we know that coming up with quantitative metrics of human performance is quite easy but measuring so called soft skills such as cooperation, coordination, leadership styles etc. can be tricky. However, I believe that being in a school that devotes much time to leadership and coaching our challenge can be overcome.
We can be looking forward to another consulting project, where we will employ the six sigma tools we learnt couple of months ago. Going to a company will give us another taste of reality before we finish our MBA in July and start our regular jobs.
In between the work we find time to laugh at Jeff Dunham¨s Ahmed, the dead Terrorist, play ping pong and chat about important life topics.
That's it from Asolo for now. May your days be filled with positive energy, love and peace.
Eva
